Garden Lights
What exactly are garden lights? That might depend upon who you ask. to some people they are lights that are strictly used in the garden itself. Most people use the term to mean any kind of outdoor lighting that you would put up around the exterior of a home or business. We are using this broader meaning and will talk about several different kinds of exterior lighting. Outside Garden lights usually have one or both of the following broad uses. They are either used for decorative, or practical reasons. That is not to say you cannot use them for both.
The decorative uses would be for things like highlighting certain architectural aspects of your home, or spotlighting trees or shrubs. A few well placed lights can work wonders in making your home more elegant and beautiful. We’ve all seen a house that looked ordinary and average by day that suddenly takes on an almost enchanted special sheen at night because the owners have used garden lighting in a simple but effective way. They can also be used for special occasions, such as weddings or parties. Add them to an easy pop up gazebo and your lawn will be transformed before your very eyes.
The more practical uses for this kind of landscape lighting include making the exterior of a home or business safer for pedestrians. Trying to walk through a yard in the dead of night can be difficult. It is hard to even know if you are walking on a walk way or on the lawn. A well placed garden light, even though it is not putting out a lot of light, can make all the difference and allow you to see the boundaries of a sidewalk or driveway. Outdoor lighting can also extend the breadth of your homes living area. If you have a decent sized yard, whether you have a garden or not, you have a lot of extra living space at your finger tips. But you are hemmed in by a lot of factors that are outside of your control. If if is getting dark by early evening you are all but forced to retreat into your home. If you have put out some decent exterior lighting, however, you can stay outside and enjoy your property for many additional hours. If you do have a garden, you might even be able to extend the amount of hours you can keep working it.
There are many different kind of exterior landscape lights. Malibu garden lights are a very popular brand.. They can be found outside of millions of properties and include metal lights, plastic, flood lights, low voltage LED landscape lights and other specialty lights. While some outdoor lighting is of the wired variety, the most popular kinds of lights are certainly solar garden lights. These do not need any external power and do not have to be connected by wires. They have small solar panels build into them and collect sunlight by day, and give off a pleasing glow by night. They have many advantages, including the safety of not having wires with live electrical current being strung all over the yard, they are certainly inexpensive because they supply their own power and they are also environmentally good because they don’t require the burning of fossil fuels to keep them going. One little subcategory of lights that are covered on this site would be the indoor garden light. These are the only interior lights that have the word garden associated with them. Basically, they are just what they sound like, lights that are used to aid in the growing of an indoor garden. They are not decorative but wholly utilitarian in their purpose. There are many more terms for the lights that we would think of as garden lights. Commons ones include patio lights, deck lighting, path lights and outdoor lanterns. Whatever they are called and whatever their specific purposes, they are all exterior lights that are designed to make your home or business more pleasant to look at, safer to walk around and more useful to their inhabitants.
